WITH inflation soaring and everyone worried about shelling out more for everything from food to fuel, stress levels have gone through the roof, and are keeping many up at night.
One interior designer shared five tips on how to reduce some of that stress at home – so it feels more like a sanctuary.
The self-proclaimed “design daddy” who uses the handle @MrPhoenixGrey shared his tips on a TikTok post that has more than 8,000 views.
Here are the five changes he suggests making to de-stress.
1. Art
The designer says in his opinion “art will always be in the forefront.”
He says choosing art that will uplift you is crucial, and says you should always include artwork in your bedroom.
“It’s the first thing you see in the morning and the last thing before you go to bed – so you want something inspirational.”
For more personable pieces, he suggested looking for a friend to create the artwork, or supporting a local artist.
That could be a triple-win for you, the artist and your local community.
2. Home fragrances
The TikToker said this is a great way to “live up your space and create a scent that is you.”
Some of his suggestions included sculpted candles, incense diffusers and his personal favorite – a line of incense cones from Persons of Interest.
3. Color
Phoenix said color plays a huge role in the mood of your home space.
“Whites, greens and blues will always bring that calming energy to a space,’ he said.
4. Natural light
The interior designer said this is the best way to “flood your space with positive energy.”
Not everyone has the luxury of a lot of natural light, so to compensate, the expert suggested putting a mirror on the opposite side of a window, so it reflects more light into your home.
5. Greenery
Last, but not least, try adding a pop of greenery in the form of plants.
The design daddy says not only will it add elegance to your home, but many houseplants are natural air purifiers, which “are the greatest and most natural way to de-stress a room,” in his opinion.
Phoenix’s post received more than 900 likes and dozens of comments.
One poster said it was hard it decide what to change first.
“Too many choices! It’s impossible for me to select something. I need guidance.”
The designer responded: “start with one for now like finding a home Fragrance.”
Another follower said: “Your opinions are ideas are always spot on. Thank you.”
And a third liked the tips so much she said: “pleaaaaseee do a couch series. I want to know your favorite picks.”
